If the organisation knows what this demand will be,out to some horizon beyond their total lead time, planning the supply chain is easy. In reality though, there is always a degree of uncertainty in just what the consumer wants and when they want it. This article will examine ways in which this uncertainty can be measured, and therefore managed to maximum effect by trading off inventory investment with service levels.
