MORE INFO: Editorial: Editor's Letter Where is UK Manufacturing going? MG Rover is another company that may now become history. Why? We know that with good operations management businesses can succeed. How? By delivering the right products and services to the customer as quickly as possible and at the lowest possible cost. Stream-lining business processes. Linking to online storefront and customer relationship management systems. Making the supply chain, procurement and manufacturing systems as efficient as possible. Integrating suppliers and service providers, sharing information and collaborating with them in order to reduce time-to-market. Developing streamlined internal administrative processes to lower costs. And, as a company’s operations expand into different geographies, new markets and across many different channels, by consolidating it's financial management systems to manage the company globally. Yet we are still losing our manufacturing! STATISTICAL PRESS RELEASE 15-Apr-05, 12:15 MG ROVER - STATEMENT FROM THE DTI Regrettably, the Government and the administrators were informed this morning that SAIC are not willing to acquire either the whole or parts of the MG Rover or Powertrain businesses on a going concern basis out of administration, nor are they willing to establish a UK joint venture incorporating the whole or parts of the MG Rover or Powertrain businesses. The theme of this issue will be RFID. What is this you ask? Well I suggest you read the articles and find out! Like most things that are created here and developed in the USA, we will probably end up buying it back at a greater cost. However, we have not yet fully embraced the technology nor have we found a standard to work with. Please enjoy.
