The study uses data gathered from an industrial partner that manufactures bespoke systems for the railway industry.The case company is both an original equipment manufacturer (OEM)and a first tier supplier to a contractor. The article highlights the benefits of using a simulation model for the cells and demonstrates the effects on the system during the fluctuation of projects,cells capacity,and clients schedule change.The aim of the work was to develop a model that simulates a cellular manufacturing system to evaluate the systems ’behaviour for given sets of conditions.
